This appeared in the last newsletter, but things tend to get buried in all the goodies there, so I wanted to signal-boost it specifically. Every month, as part of our newsletter, we feature a podfic of one of the stories on our archive. Perhaps some of you have wondered how we decide what stories to include as Featured Podfics. We prefer to select Featured Podfics based on recommendations from you, our members and guests on the SWG! :)

When we introduced the Featured Podfic, we received enough recommendations to last us almost a year. Well, we are finally running out of recommendations, so I am trying to schedule another round of monthly podfics.

We are requesting recommendations for stories, poems, and other pieces on the archive that you'd like to hear made into a podfic! We have a handy podfic request form on the website--all you need is a link to the story--or you can always email us at [email protected], if you prefer. If every person requested one story ... well, we'd have the Featured Podfic for many years yet to come. ;)

We will then do the hard part of contacting the author for permission and arranging for a reader (although if you'd like to try recording a podfic, you're welcome to volunteer for this too, if you want), and in an upcoming newsletter, you will get to enjoy hearing a favorite story read out loud by one of our wonderful podfic readers!

Speaking of which, if you record podfics (or have always wanted to try!) and would like to help us as a reader for the Featured Podfic, either use the podfic reader form on the website or comment to this post with your email address. (All comments are screened, and posts containing contact information will be kept screened.)

One of our podfic readers has requested help with pronunciation of Silmarillion names for a piece she is working on. I am not very good with this myself (as listening to my podfics will attest!) and so don't want to lead her astray into my bad Tolkien-with-a-Bal'more-accent ways. Is there anyone good with pronunciation that would be willing to help her out with this? Please comment with your email, if you can, and I will put her in touch with you. (Comments are screened and I will not unscreen anything with personal information in it.) You can alternatively email me at [email protected].

Thanks in advance! :)

ETA: We have a volunteer, but anyone else who'd be willing, I still wouldn't mind additional options. I'll be in touch if I forward your information to the reader! Thanks!
